How to resize images in bulk
If you work with images for content creation, website management or really any situation where you have to upload images to the internet you have surely run into a situation where you needed to scale down photos to meet certain size requirements for that site. Tiny Photos offers a very simple way to do that, let’s take a look!
What is resizing?
I’m sure most of you are familiar with what resizing is but just in case let’s do a quick refresher. Every digital image has what we call resolution, resolution is the term for how many pixels an image has. Sometimes this is referred to as high or low resolution(this is arbitrary) or more likely something like 1920x1080, this represents the number of pixels an image has in the x and y axis respectively. If we multiply these two numbers together - 2,073,600 - and divide by 1,000,000 - 2.07 - we get the megapixel value, the term used to describe how many pixels a camera has. When we talk about resizing what we really mean is reducing the number of pixels that are in an image. By doing this we are making the files size of the image smaller which is usually a good thing for the web. Although, it’s important to understand what resolution you need your image to be because once you scale down an image and remove those pixels you can never get them back. When we loose too much resolution in an image it starts to look blurry or pixelated, so it can be a bit of a balancing act between image quality and file size.
